What to Wear on the 4th of July
Now that Memorial Day has come and gone, we are looking forward to the next summer BBQ opportunity: the Fourth of July! Stars and stripes and reds, whites, and blues will abound all around while hot dogs, parades, and fireworks all come out for a day of rowdy American celebration.
To start off your holiday right, here are some USA-themed comfy and casual outfit ideas, including fun and trendy graphic tees, shorts, and more!
Let’s start with the obvious: graphic tees. They can serve as a simple way to get your holiday on, as they don’t require much planning to make a 4th-worthy outfit. Something like the Party in the USA Graphic Tee or the American Honey Tee are both perfect places to start. Customize with your most flattering shorts and comfy sandals or sneakers.

Feeling less cutesy and more grunge? The Made in America Skull Tank Top combines patriotism with edge (plus a hint of animal print). Paired with some black biker shorts or denim shorts, the tank will become the focal point of your ensemble.
Alternatively, a neutral graphic like the Stars & Stripes American Flag Tank or the ‘Merica Graphic Tee can lend a subtle nod to the spirit of the 4th without being over the top color-wise. You can even pair them with a color other than one that’s found on the flag and still look patriotic! Although these aren’t decorated with bold colors, they would still be a great choice for those 4th of July barbecues, especially paired with a cowboy hat or blue headscarf and some denim cutoffs.
A red, white, or blue colored solid is an easy way to start building your ultimate holiday look, and you can use pieces that can be worn all year long! Some of our favorites include the New York Pleated High-Waist Pants. Add a white top, such as our Bombshell Babe Bodysuit, and our Blue Head Scarf, and you’re ready for a night of bright lights!
The Emma Straw Hat is another choice that can help to elevate your look. If you’re more of a glam girl and prefer dressing up rather than going laid-back, this hat might be the perfect choice! Plus, it will keep that hot summer sun out of your eyes and protect your skin from fine lines and wrinkles! Style it with a red dress or white flared jeans for something that’s a little dressier.
Graphics are great, but sometimes you’re feeling prints all the way! Wearing our nation’s flag in fashion form makes a patriotic statement that can’t be beat. We have some Judy Blue jean shorts that have Old Glory printed right on them! Wear them all day on the 4th with a red, white, or blue top, and add our Blue & Red Head Scarf. After the big day has come to an end, no need to put those shorts away either–just add a cute top and wear them to a country concert or around town!
Or, if you’re not quite ready to invest in something that’s all-out USA, there are other ways to celebrate the holiday! One way to do this is adding a blue and red print other than stars to your favorite summery ‘fit. A layering piece such as the Fireworks Kimono in Blue could add a touch of the Independence Day spirit, while giving you the freedom to dress in your go-tos and stay within your comfort zone. Add the kimono over some white denim and a crop top in a festive color, or if you’re spending the day at the pool, wear it as your cover-up!
No outfit is complete without accessories, and boy have we got some goodies in store for you! Find spirited hats and headscarves in our Patriotic Collection, or look in our accessories category to find other pieces that will perfectly polish your look. Baseball caps alone are pretty American, but adding a flag graphic or stars and stripes makes it even more 4th of July appropriate. Whether you choose to wear our American Flag Baseball Hat or our Patriotic Baseball Hat for festivities, you can’t go wrong.

While the 4th of July doesn’t have to be celebrated by the way you dress, it is still a fun way to change things up and enjoy the day. Whatever you decide to wear and however you choose to style it, we hope you have a fun-filled, family-centered day and that you stay safe.
